Game Report V Aberdeen 17/4/2016

The Vikings made the long trip to Aberdeen today still a few players short of a full squad and with some new blood looking to integrate into the Vikings way.

In what were difficult conditions the offense failed to click in the first half but the defence did prevent any scoring from Aberdeen.

Aberdeen lead at half time 6-0 with a defensive touchdown which followed a poor snap that was recovered in the Vikings end zone for six points. The PAT was missed hitting the left post.

Newcastle did get some offense going in the third quarter mainly through the running game of Jonny Mbuyi and Tega Diegbe but it was QB Nick Whitehead that levelled the scores with an 18 yard pass to new recruit Paul Richardson, the PAT was converted to give the Vikings the lead 7-6

On the next drive Running Back Jonny Mbuyi scored with a 4 yard rush to give the Vikings some breathing space with the PAT converted it made the score 14-6

The fourth quarter was all about defence for both teams with 14-6 remaining the final score.

Lots to work on for the Vikings with too many penalties 10 for 144 yards it was a hard fought but messy victory.

Good work with the clean sheet from the defence and an impressive display by another recruit Ben Lee Harris with 3 sacks

The Vikings have 2 weeks training to sharpen up before another international trip away – this time to Glasgow on May 8th

MVP’s were
